The first of weekly Dog Play Groups was held at the West Valley Shelter on Saturday March 22 from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. It went very well. Eight or nine small dogs participated first. Then five or six medium and large dogs played together.
The West Valley Shelter hopes to have these play groups regularly on Saturday mornings. Check with Shawn Colon or Thomas Kalinowski at the West Valley Shelter on Thursday or Friday to make sure.
Play Groups not only give the dogs a chance to get out of their kennels and have some fun and exercise, they also allow staff, volunteers, and potential adopters to evaluate whether dogs are dog friendly. If you are considering adopting a dog and want to know if it gets along with other dogs, this is an opportunity for you to see the dog in action.
